The Finnis Scott Foundation

A major supporter of The Garden House for the 2010/11 season is The Finnis Scott Foundation.

The Finnis Scott Foundation was established under the Will of Lady Montagu Douglas Scott (Valerie Finnis) in 2006. The Trustees of the foundation can make grants for any charitable purpose, but their present policy is to focus grant-making in the areas of horticulture and plant sciences, as well as art and art history. By doing so, they acknowledge the two enduring preoccupations – art collecting and gardening – of Sir David Montagu Douglas Scott, K.C.M.G., O.B.E., (1887-1986) and his wife, Valerie Finnis V.M.H. (1924-2006).

John Spedan Lewis Foundation

During 2009 a donation from the John Spedan Lewis Foundation meant we were able to reprint the official guide to The Garden House reflecting our new features and plantings. This was the second time we had received a donation from the Foundation, the first being in 2001 when a contribution was made towards the cost of the Quarry Garden Summerhouse.

The Foundation was established in 1964 in memory of the founder of the John Lewis Partnership, a lifelong naturalist. The Trustees of the Foundation aim to support projects that reflect John Spedan Lewis’ particular interests, namely horticulture, ornithology and entomology.
