Welcome to the area of our site where we keep you up-to-date with everything that’s happening in The Garden House through our Garden Blog.
What’s a Blog?
The term Blog is an abridgment of ‘web log’ and is essentially a regularly updated journal providing commentary or news on a particular subject – in this case The Garden House.
Each new journal entry is called a Post, and each Post is allocated to one or more Categories which describes its content; News, What’s Flowering Now, etc.
Each post is also given ‘Tags’ when it’s created. These tags make it easier to search for an item of interest via the search bar at the top of the page.
Blogs usually have a few features that are useful to know about if you want to get the most out of them as a reader. Lets briefly examine the two most important ones:
Archives – When we write a new post it goes to the top of the ‘Recent Posts’ list in the sidebar to the right. As it gets older and as we add more current posts it begins its journey down the list until it disappears off the bottom. This is not the end of its life however, because it gets filed away in the ‘Archives’ section of our blog, which is easily accessible in a couple of ways.
You can read our archives simply by looking at the ‘Archives’ or ‘Categories’ sections in the sidebar. There you will see links to all our old posts which you can access either by month within the archives section or by category within the categories section.
Comments – Not all our blog posts allow comments, but most do. In this way a blog is less like a monologue and more like a conversation.
You can give us feedback on almost everything we write simply by filling in the simple form below each post. Here you enter your name, email address and a link to your own blog if you have one as well as your feedback/comment/critique/question/essay – whatever you wish to say.
