Head Gardener Masterclass: How to create and maintain borders

NOW FULLY BOOKED!

Spend a day with us in the company of our head gardener and learn how to design and maintain borders to be proud of.

Most gardens have space for a border or two. More often than not they turn into a disappointment of patchy planting. Learn valuable information, techniques and tips about how to get great borders in your garden – whatever your soil or garden conditions. Whether you are planning your first garden or trying to bring order back into your borders, this course will give you a lift and help you plan confidently.

Nick Haworth will lead you through the theory, share his experience and show you how his ideas work in practise as he explains how the magnificent borders in the 2 acre walled garden are put together. There will be plenty of time for conversations and questions on this down to earth course. You’ll spend time indoors and out on this rewarding day, before heading home full of confidence and inspiration to try out new ideas.

Photography Masterclass with Philip Smith

Learn from a master garden photographer, in the first workshop he has held at The Garden House. Philip Smith is a professional garden and plant photographer with twenty years experience. We have lured him here following his visit to the garden for the first time in ten years and we're excited to see the photographs he takes.

His images have been featured in a wide variety of magazines and books. In 2007, he founded International Garden Photographer of the Year in association with the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew and ran it for seven years. During this time, he developed workshops in garden and plant photography for clients such as the National Trust, Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, National Garden of Wales and many others. His workshops have expanded to include locations overseas, notably Parques de Sintra and Cida das Camelias, Portugal, Gothenburg Botanical Garden, Sweden, and I Maestri del Passagio festival, Italy. Philip is a workshop leader for the Royal Photographic Society and author of ͚Better Plant and Garden Photography (Garden Photo Press, 2012).

Philip will take time in the classroom and the garden to show you how to take better photographs. This workshop is a must for any keen or aspiring garden photographer.
